Larry English is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with over 25 years of experience in the area of mental health policy and advocacy at the government level, as well as 17 years in a independent office practice. Larry holds a Masters in Community Mental Health from Clemson University, and is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Education, in Counselor Education and Supervision (2019). He is an international presenter on culturally competent practices, and an emerging researcher on evidence based practices for disadvantaged and historically oppressed communities.
Larry has served on SAMHSA national task forces for the development of resources for communities of color and GLBTIQ2-S populations, both youth and families. He works with individuals, couples, children, adolescents, families and groups. Larry is theoretically and technique eclectic, but is well trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior, Therapy, Reality Therapy, Multicultural Theory, and Critical Race Theory.
His certifications include crisis intervention, advanced child development, adolescent trauma reduction intervention,, domestic violence intervention, and sexual orientation transition and support. He remains the Executive Director of the Federation of Families, Healthy Minds Hillsborough, and Inc., where he contributes to the national voice on mental and behavioral health services.
