Amber utilizes more of a cognitive behavioral approach with her clients; however, has incorporated other treatment modalities due to the fact that all clients are treated on an individual basis. At times, she has allowed her dog to attend some of the therapy sessions to help clients feel a sense of calmness and comfort in what is sometimes an uncomfortable or difficult experience.

Working with the adolescent population has proven to be trying at times, but is the most rewarding work. She looks forward to continuing to serve them both in sessions and by encouraging them to become actively involved in their own community.

Zoey - Natural Therapy Dog

Zoey

Papillion

Zoey is a Papillion, a breed derived from the Continental toy spaniels that were companions to queens. Zoey is full grown and works in the office as a therapy dog. She gives hugs and attention to people who need a little more TLC than our counselors can provide. She often joins Linda in her sessions and loves her job as assistant therapist.

The word is Papillion is French for butterfly and refers to the large upright ears with long tuffs that give the appearance of a butterfly. Many old paintings of Queens or Royalty have toy spaniels sitting on their laps.

Zoey was born in the Spring of 2007 and is full grown at eight pounds. She has been trained in basic obedience, does some tricks, and is a natural therapy dog. She knows not to jump up next to someone without an invitation but if you call her, she will sit quietly next to you during your therapy session. Many clients find her presence calming and enjoy petting her during their sessions.
