Linda started CHEER Counseling in 2006 with a goal of bringing friendly and affordable counseling to the general population.
Prior to opening CHEER in 2006, Linda worked for five years with clients who were court ordered into therapy due to anger and/or substance abuse problems. She developed and ran programs for clients with substance abuse, child abuse, anger and domestic violence.
Linda counsels both men and women with problems including substance abuse, depression, anxiety and trauma, past abuse that still upsets you, relationship issues with couples, cancer and other serious health issues, substance abuse and disabilities. She also works with children and teens, and encourages parent participation in the therapy process. She has additional training in couples counseling and trauma resolution. Linda is one of the few counselors in the area who is able to converse in Sign Language and often sees deaf clients.
CHRONIC OR TERMINAL DISEASES, BRAIN INJURIES, Linda works with clients who have cancer, kidney, heart disease, traumatic brain injuries, and other serious illnesses. As a breast cancer survivor, she has first hand experience and understanding of being seriously ill, and also of being close to a seriously ill person.
GENETIC COUNSELING, Linda has extensive knowledge and experience with genetic disorders. Do you have a prenatal diagnosis, or have given birth to a child with a disability? Have you (or someone close to you) been diagnosed with a genetic disorder? Are you confused by the doctors, or need help understanding and deciding your next step and/or treatment? She can help explain the disorder simply, and help guide you into making the best decision for your care.
ABUSE RECOVERY THERAPY. INCLUDING RELIGIOUS ABUSE: Did you grow up in a fundamentalist religious home that strictly followed the biblical statement: Don’t spare the rod? Do you suffer from depression, anxiety, and guilt as a result of a strict religious background? Are you struggling to leave behind a deeply religious background? Do you still struggle with family members who are critical of you, or who insist on evangelizing or telling you that you are going to hell? Were you molested or abused by someone “in the church?”
If this sounds like you – RELIGIOUS ABUSE RECOVERY THERAPY can help. There is hope for a better tomorrow.
Linda accepts many insurances including BCBS, United, Humana, Cigna, Aetna, and Multi-plan.e>
