At Cheer Counseling, we have counselors who specialize in treating children and adolescents. We see children as young as four years old. If a child is under four, we prefer working with the parents to help them help their child directly.
We often see children who are experiencing changes in their families such as moving, a separation, divorce, or remarriage. Young children consider therapy to be play, and love coming to see their therapist. Teens benefit from having someone objective to support them through their problems.
Children need a warm counselor who understands them and counsels through play. Cheer staff includes several highly skilled and compassionate counselors who specialize in working with children and adolescents. We work with children who are having school problems, learning and behavior problems, family problems, children of divorce, cutting, and gifted children. We also treat children who have developmental problems such as attention deficit, hyperactivity, impulse control problems, autistic spectrum disorder or other serious problems. We see adolescents with depression, adjustment problems, as well as more serious problems like cutting or suicidal thoughts.
We will match a counselor for your child who has experience in working with children or adolescents with the same kinds of problems that your child is experiencing. Our counselors also include the family in therapy. Family treatment is an important part of the process of recovery. We will do our best to make sure that your child is receiving the most effective treatment possible.
